Reiki has been shown to be effective even when you can not be physically present for a session. The Reiki energy is directed to areas of the body, as well as the energetic fields, that are similarly treated during an in-person session. Clients experience the similar benefits ranging from deep relaxation, to the unblocking of energy within the chakras, relief from headaches and migraines, reduction of physical and arthritic pain, accelerated healing from surgical procedures, and the release of emotional pain.
The practitioner and client agree upon a time for the session and will discuss the focus and intention for the session. The practitioner may require a photograph of the client, although this is not necessary. At the appointed time, the client should be sitting or lying down in a quiet comfortable place, so as not to be disturbed for the entire length of the session.
The healing space is cleansed and prepared for each session in the same way as an in-person Reiki treatment. Healing elixirs are sprayed within the space to promote certain levels of frequency, and this is specific for each individual and healing. Crystals are chosen and put into a grid formation to hold and transmit the healing frequencies of the session. This remains activated for an additional 24 hours. Soothing music, crystal bowls, and sounding is also frequently used as is during an in-person session. An intention of the highest good is set by the client and practitioner and an offering of gratitude for the healing gift of Reiki.
At the scheduled time, both the client and practitioner work together remotely and energetically. The effects of distant Reiki can be just as profound as those experienced in an in-person session.
When the session is complete, it is suggested that you take a few moments before moving about, giving the body time to adjust to the energy received and your surroundings. Some may feel energized, while others may feel like going to sleep. Honor and listen to the needs of your body and rest and move accordingly.
